Collingwood midfield coach Garry Hocking has provided an update on injured defender Lynden Dunn, saying the club is bracing itself for miserable news.
Dunn made his return to football in a VFL practice match against Richmond at Punt Road Oval on Thursday, twisting and re-injuring the same knee in which he ruptured his ACL in Round 15 last year.
Hocking told SEN’s The Captain’s Run that both Dunn and the club are hoping for the best but expecting the worst.
“He’s not confident,” he said.
“But again, with these things, we’ll get all the scans to do all the stuff that you need to do and I think a decision will probably be pending very soon.
“All I can say is that it’s not looking good but fingers, toes, legs, everything crossed because Dunny’s an absolute star.”
Hocking said that Dunn’s injury had been felt throughout the entire club.
“He’s such an inspiration to all the players, all the staff, our whole footy club.
“If it is the case, he’ll put his head down, the boys will get around him.
“We’ll try and support him as much as we can.”
Despite the injury, the Magpies’ spirits will be brightened by the club’s 44-point victory over Richmond on Thursday night.
Collingwood will host West Coast at the MCG on Saturday night in round three.
