Hawthorn has announced the playing numbers for their eight new players for season 2020, as two current players are set for a jersey alteration.
Mitchell Lewis will take on former teammate and club champion Jarryd Roughead's No. 2 jersey, passing the torch as the next key position option for the turn of the decade.
GM of Football Graham Wright said it was an exciting change for the club’s next wave of talent.
“This is a great honour for Mitch who worked really closely with Rough throughout their time together at the club,” Wright told the club's website.
“I think it’s a nice touch that there’s a bit of synergy in going from one key forward to the next.”
In what will mark his second season at the club, defender Jack Scrimshaw will also be handed the locker room of a club champion, with Grant Birchall handing over his number 14 as he departs for Brisbane.
Two players selected in the most recent trade period, Sam Frost and Jonathon Patton will represent numbers 8 and 25 respectively.
New Hawks draftees have also secured their playing numbers, former Bomber Michael Hartley will wear No. 27, as Will Day (No. 30), Finn Maginness (No. 32), Josh Morris (No. 35), Emerson Jeka (No. 39) and Harry Pepper (No. 42) round out 10 new jumper numbers in total.
