Port Adelaide is sweating on the results of scans to the knee of blistering winger Zavier Duursma after the 22-year-old left Marvel Stadium in a knee brace on Friday night.

Duursma suffered what is suspected to be a posterior cruciate ligament injury during the Power's against-the-odds win over St Kilda on the road and seems destined for a prolonged stint on the sidelines.

The former first-round draftee departed the contest at quarter-time after his right knee collided with the hip of St Kilda ruckman Rowan Marshall during an early rucking contest.

And while Duursma battled on manfully for a brief period before the opening break, he was eventually subbed out for Riley Bonner ahead of the second term.

Port is yet to confirm the extent of the Victorian's injury, with any announcement set to be made once results of impending scans are made available.

However, injuries of this nature have routinely seen victims spend around three months out of action.

This latest blow adds to the lengthy list of setbacks suffered by the Gippsland Power product, with Duursma featuring in just 44 AFL fixtures since the dawn of the COVID-capped 2020 season.

Duursma's 64 appearances in silver, teal, black and white sit in stark contrast to fellow youngsters Connor Rozee and Zak Butters, with the latter pair playing 88 and 75 games respectively after both being selected alongside Duursma during the 2018 AFL Draft.

Prior to Friday night, Duursma had cobbled together the beginnings of a promising season for Port, averaging 15.8 disposals and 1.8 rebound 50s between Rounds 1 and 6.

Duursma remains contracted at Alberton until the completion of the 2024 season.
