The whispers began when Adelaide football director Mark Ricciuto recently suggested on Triple M that the Lions were keen to offer Dixon a four-year deal to move back to Queensland.
The star Power forward on Wednesday extended his contract with his club for a further three seasons.
Davies said the Power weren’t annoyed by Ricciuto’s comments, who “did get right” that multiple clubs were into Dixon.
However, Davies added it “probably irks when you talk about one club and not the rest of them”.
“Charlie had a number of clubs who were after him, but he decided to stay, which is great for us,” Davies said.
“He’s a guy who is such a beacon of strength for us, guys walk taller around him.
“He is a really important signature and as you heard last week there were plenty of clubs after his signature.”
Dixon had planned to move back to Queensland after signing with Port Adelaide from Gold Coast back in 2015.
But the star forward, who is in All-Australian form, said he has “made Adelaide my home now”.
“I sort of did think about some other options but at the end of the day it just didn’t feel right for me and the right fit was Port Adelaide,” he said.
“Over my last couple of years here the club has done a lot for me, they’ve helped me not just in my football but my off-field stuff as well.
“I suppose my first couple of years here it was my first winter coming from Queensland and I was like it seems like it’s raining every day maybe I’ll just do my five years and then retire and go back home to Queensland.
“But I’ve fallen in love with Adelaide and I can’t really see myself anywhere else, I love the place, I love the people love the club
“Adelaide has changed me and I can see myself long term here, so it was an easy decision in the end.”
Dixon is currently third in the Coleman Medal race with 27 goals for the ladder-leading Power.
