Port Adelaide will be without defender Kane Farrell for the rest of their 2024 season after scans confirmed a high-grade hamstring strain for the Power backman.
Farrell was subbed out of Sunday's win over Fremantle in the opening half due to the injury, with the 25-year-old gaining further assessment on Monday amid fears he could miss the club's upcoming qualifying final.
The club has since confirmed Farrell will be sidelined for the rest of the current campaign due to a significant strain of the hamstring.
Farrell joins Trent McKenzie (quad), Kyle Marshall (shoulder), Jeremy Finlayson (spleen) and Sam Powell-Pepper (knee) in being ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The blow adds to the loss of fellow rebounding defender Daniel Houston, who will serve a five-game suspension that has put an end to his season also.
Port Adelaide could have key forwards Todd Marshall (concussion) and Charlie Dixon (illness) back in time for next week's final against Geelong.
Marshall will rejoin teammates for full training this week, having exited concussion protocols prior to last weekend.
Meanwhile, young midfielder Hugh Jackson is facing up to five weeks on the sidelined due to a knee setback. Jackson recently underwent an arthroscope after suffering a minor lateral meniscus injury.
The Power will host the Cats at Adelaide Oval on Thursday, September 5 at 7:40pm (AEST).
