A portion of Port Adelaide fans are evidently upset with where their club currently sits under the watch of senior coach Ken Hinkley.
After starting the season with no wins from their opening five matches, pressure had quickly mounted on the Hinkley's shoulders amid a campaign that was touted to garner further premiership contention.
Hinkley and the Power have since salvaged some credibility, winning eight matches from their last 13 to remain in the fight for a finals placing.
Defeat to ladder leaders Geelong over the weekend was another dagger in the heart for Port fans however, with their side narrowly losing at home and now sitting two wins away from the September cut-off.
At least one fan has shown where they stand on Hinkley's tenure, with a "sack Hinkley" banner stuck onto the club's roadside sign on Port Road, near Alberton Oval in Adelaide's northwest.
The message comes a day after Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes named Hinkley as a suitable target for North Melbourne, believing his departure to Arden Street would be a "win-win" scenario.
“After 10 years it’s a fresh start, perhaps with a younger coach or a coach who’s been there before it could be a win-win for both," Cornes said on Footy Classified.Â
Cornes listed former Port Adelaide players and current Richmond coaches Damien Hardwick and Adam Kinglsey as two potential candidates to replace Hinkley.
Since joining the Power in 2013, Hinkley has amassed a record of 129-89, including 10 finals matches.
The Power will be looking to remain in the finals frame this weekend when they travel to the MCG to face Collingwood on Saturday.
Hinkley is currently contracted at Port Adelaide until the end of next year.
