Port Adelaide forward Todd Marshall is expected to be sidelined for a lengthy period after rupturing his achilles at training on Monday.

The Power confirmed that Marshall went down at training and that scans revealed the worst possible news.

It is understood that the 26-year-old was attempting to change direction in a series of small, game simulations.

Marshall is expected to go into surgery later this week, with a timeline for his recovery to be made clearer after.

He could miss the entire 2025 season.

"We are shattered for Todd," Port Adelaide Head of Medical Services Tim O'Leary said.

"We will put plenty of support behind Todd and we know he will approach his rehab with the same positive attitude and resilience that he has shown throughout his career.โ€

This new injury follows a string of issues, in particular concussions, that Marshall has had to face over the years.

The former Pick 16, who is contracted until the end of 2029, has suffered five severe head knocks, including one in the semi-final win over Hawthorn last year.

Marshall was then absent from the club's preliminary loss the following week, putting his career in doubt.

A total of four players were medically retired due to repeated head knocks.

Marshall was set to become a focal point inside Port Adelaide's forward 50, as veteran forward Charlie Dixon hung up the boots following season 2024.
