A hip injury could force Port Adelaide forward Todd Marshall back on the sidelines after the Power tall was unable to see out Sunday's clash with Gold Coast.

Marshall sustained the injury in the second term of the game at People First Stadium, with the Power tall quickly ruled out of the remainder of the match.

The club confirmed a hip injury had plagued Marshall, who had finally found some durability in 2024 after an injury-hit past few seasons.

Marshall battled concussion setbacks and illness last year to play 19 games before the club's finals campaign, while post-season hip surgery and a pre-season foot concern hampered his time between campaigns over the past 12 months.

Marshall was subbed out of the Power's Round 16 game against St Kilda due to a muscle injury before scans cleared the 25-year-old of any damage.

"Charlie (Dixon) landed on top of his leg and really jammed his hip down," coach Ken Hinkley said after the game.

"[Marshall] has had some history with it in the last couple of years, so we'll have to wait and scan that. He's clearly hurt him a little bit. We just don't know how much until we get the scans back."

The Victorian's latest setback could see Marshall facing a period on the sidelines at a time when the club looks to continue its push for a finals return in 2024.

Any absence for next week's clash with Richmond would be alleviated as fellow key forward Mitch Georgiades returns from his one-game suspension.

The Power is set to be without defender Lachie Jones for that game at least after the backman was subbed out of the game against the Suns due to concussion and neck issues following a collision with Alex Davies.

Port Adelaide are scheduled to face the second-placed Carlton the week after next Saturday's clash against the Tigers at Adelaide Oval.
