Port Adelaide defender Kane Farrell has turned his back on free agency and has penned a five-year extension to remain at Alberton.
Farrell has quickly become a significant cog in the Power's backline, utilising his lethal left foot and line-breaking skills to good effect, which the club will see until the end of 2030.
The 26-year-old was initially taken with Pick 51 in the 2017 National Draft, and took a few seasons to cement his spot on Ken Hinkley's side.
Following the departure of two-time All-Australian Dan Houston, Farrell's importance skyrocketed, and he is deemed one of the prominent distributors from the back half at Port Adelaide.
The Bendigo Pioneers product said the decision to remain at Alberton was easy.
"I've loved my time at Port Adelaide, and I'm really happy to be here for another five seasons," Farrell said.
"I'm settled in Adelaide with my partner and have made some great mates at the club over the last few years.
"I feel like my best football is still to come. We have a fantastic group of players and coaches here who are all working hard toward the same goals, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for us."
Port Adelaide list manager Jason Cripps said retaining Farrell is both positive on and off the field.
"Kane is a very important player for us now and into the future," Cripps said.
"We've seen him grow into an impactful, reliable footballer who works hard and leads by example.
"His ball movement out of the backline and sharp left foot are trademarks of his game, and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow his voice and leadership on-field."
Port Adelaide will turn their attention to Miles Bergman and Jase Burgoyne, who both come out of contract at the end of 2025.
Defender Brandon Zerk-Thatcher will be seeking a new deal for next year and beyond, while ruckman Ivan Soldo is a watch after he attempted to depart at the end of 2024.
Veteran Travis Boak could also eye a 20th season in the AFL, but talks will begin towards the middle of the year.
Farrell joins young ruckman Dante Visentini as players the Power have re-committed to recently.
The Power's inconsistent start has them 1-2, and they will hope to improve their ledger on Sunday when they host St Kilda at Adelaide Oval.
