Port Adelaide mid-forward Jackson Mead has penned a two-year contract extension to remain at the club, locking him away until the end of 2026.

Making his debut in Round 1 2022, Mead has worked hard to cement his spot in Ken Hinkley's side and has been rewarded in the current campaign, not missing one contest.

Mead was the club's second-ever father-son selection, taken at pick 25 in the 2019 national draft, as the son of inaugural Port Adelaide AFL best and fairest winner, Darren Mead.ย

โ€œI'm really excited to be sticking around at Port Adelaide for at least another two years,โ€ Mead said.ย

โ€œI've loved my time so far here and feel like I'm starting to play some of my best football. The coaches, players and positive environment at the club have all supported my improvement as a footballer and I'm committed to continuing to get better.ย

โ€œI'm really happy to be staying on at Port Adelaide and creating my own path here. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this group.โ€ย

Port Adelaide List Manager Jason Cripps was pleased to secure Mead's signature.ย

โ€œWe are happy to offer Jackson another two years at Port Adelaide,โ€ Cripps said.ย

โ€œJackson has been a solid contributor throughout the 2024 season and has shown that he belongs at AFL level.ย

โ€œHe is a strong and courageous footballer, who demonstrates excellent football IQ and game sense for someone of his age. We look forward to seeing him make the most of his opportunities over the next two years.โ€ย

Following their impressive win against the Bulldogs, the Power are looking to lock up a spot in the eight and push for top four.

Mead and his teammates will travel to Queensland to take on Gold Coast, who are unbeaten when they play at home.
