Port Adelaide are reportedly open to putting defender Riley Bonner on the trade table this year, potentially becoming involved in a deal to bring young Roo Jason Horne-Francis back to South Australia.
Bonner's current deal at the Power runs until the conclusion of the 2023 season, but reports from The Age suggest that clubs have been made aware that he is gettable.
The 25-year-old managed 17 senior games this season, averaging 18.8 disposals. Since his debut in 2016, Bonner has gone on to play 82 games for the Power.
Jason Horne-Francis emerged as one of the biggest stories of the trade period when he requested a trade back home to South Australia after just one season with North Melbourne.
The former number 1 pick looks likely to head to Port Adelaide, with the Kangaroos wanting plenty in return for the prized 19-year-old.
Port Adelaide football manager Chris Davies said on Monday that the young quartet of Miles Bergman, Josh Sinn, Zak Butters and Xavier Duursma would not be involved in any trade talk to bring Horne-Francis to the club, with Bonner now reportedly put on the trade table.
Speaking on Monday to AFL trade Radio, North list manager Brady Rawlings said the club would consider receiving a player from either South Australian club as part of a deal to get Horne-Francis across the border.
“That's certainly something we'd consider. We've made it quite well known we're trying to get more mature on our list," Rawlings said.
“We hope to bring in Griffin Logue and Darcy Tucker throughout this period and if there's the chance to get a player in this deal as well, then we'll certainly look at it, whether it be from Adelaide or Port Adelaide.”
