Contracted Port Adelaide defender Daniel Houston has officially requested a trade to Victoria.

The two-time All-Australian's future has been speculated on in recent months after trade links tied him to a potential move away from Alberton in favour of a switch to his home state.

Houston is under contract at the Power until the end of 2027, meaning Port Adelaide would need to be satisfied by any club keen to acquire Houston's services.

Collingwood, North Melbourne, Carlton and the Western Bulldogs have all been linked to the rebounding backman.

Port Adelaide confirmed on Tuesday that Houston informed the club of his desire to move back to Victoria during his exit meeting this week, with no preferred landing spot mentioned.

Houston is said to be open to remaining in South Australia if a deal between the Power and a rival club can't be struck.

The club has confirmed neither player has nominated a preferred landing spot.

"Port Adelaide defender Dan Houston and ruck Ivan Soldo informed the club today of their desire to be traded back to Victoria," a club statement read.

"Both Houston and Soldo are yet to nominate a club of choice and are committed to staying at Port Adelaide if a suitable trade is not reached.

"Houston, who has played 168 games for the Power and is a two-time All-Australian, has three years remaining on his contract while 2019 Richmond premiership player Soldo is still contracted to Port Adelaide for a further two years."

Port Adelaide are likely to demand at least one first-round pick in exchange for Houston, who won his second successive All-Australian blazer in 2024.

Neither Collingwood nor the Western Bulldogs currently hold a selection in the opening round of this year's draft, while Carlton are said to be reluctant to part ways with their top pick for November's count. - currently Pick 11.

The Dogs are likely to strengthen their draft hand with the expected departures of midfield duo Bailey Smith and Jack Macrae.

North Melbourne are reportedly open to parting with their future first-round draft selection in a deal for Houston.

Houston is suspended for the opening game of the 2025 season after receiving a five-game ban for his high hit on Adelaide's Izak Rankine in mid-August.

Soldo is said to have interest from St Kilda, with a move to Moorabbin likely for the premiership Tiger.
