Port Adelaide's week has gone from bad to worse with veteran spearhead Charlie Dixon and defender Kane Farrell set to miss the club's upcoming match against Geelong on Saturday,

The Power have been among the headlines this week as the AFL investigated the club's handling of an on-field collision between defensive pair Aliir Aliir and Lachie Jones. Both players have since been placed in concussion protocols despite Aliir returning to the field in last week's loss to Adelaide and Jones having been diagnosed with a migraine instead of a concussion.

On Friday, the league handed Port Adelaide a $100,000 fine for their transgressions, with half of that sanction to be included in the club's football department soft cap.

Both Aliir and Jones will miss Round 21 after entering the mandatory 12-day concussion protocols, with the pair joined by Francis Evans (omitted) in making way at selection this week.

Captain Tom Jonas, forward Willie Rioli and veteran Travis Boak will come into Ken Hinkley's side, with Riley Bonner, Ollie Lord and Jackson Mead joining Evans as emergencies for the trip to Geelong.

Both Lord and Francis will now face the Cats, with both Dixon (foot) and Farrell (illness) ruled out due to respective ailments.

The club confirmed on Friday that Lord and Francis will come into the team, with Hugh Jackson and Jase Burgoyne added to their list of emergencies.

The host of changes come as the Power look to snap a three-game losing run and hold onto their place among the top two on the ladder, with a loss to Geelong likely to see the Alberton side fall two rungs on the ladder.

Meanwhile, ruckman Scott Lycett will require surgery on a knee injury that has kept him sidelined in recent weeks. The club confirmed on Friday that their veteran will have a clean out of his meniscus in his left knee after ongoing soreness.

A timeframe for Lycett's recovery will be made cleared in the coming days.
