Off-contract Port Adelaide forward Mitch Georgiades is expected to walk from Alberton if he can't be guaranteed senior football in the future.
The young spearhead will unfortunately miss the remainder of the 2023 season after suffering an ACL injury over a week ago in the SANFL, with the setback bringing an abrupt end to the 21-year-old's fourth season with the Power.
Georgiades had played two prior games for the Magpies before the setback, having been demoted to Port Adelaide's reserves after playing the opening two games of the year at senior level.
Ken Hinkley's tall forward stocks of Todd Marshall, Jeremy Finlayson and Charlie Dixon have given Georgiades plenty of competition for spots come selection, while debutant Ollie Lord was selected ahead of the Western Australian in Round 6.
The situation has added to the speculation already surrounding Georgiades' future, with the Subiaco product having gained reported interest from WA and Victorian clubs for this year.
Port Adelaide are seen likely to retain the 49-gamer if they can guarantee him senior football in the future, with SEN's Tom Morris reporting the key forward could look elsewhere if his place under Hinkley can't be confirmed.
A host of rival clubs, including West Coast, are said to be circling Georgiades' situation with the Power, with the young attacker's future seen to be "up in the air".
"He wants to stay but he wants to play senior footy," Morris told SEN.
"He was dropped after Round 2, he didn't exactly light it up in the SANFL when he did go back.
"Port's position is they want to keep him, but there's a caveat - they won't break the bank to do so. They're not going to give up everything to keep him on their list, especially because he finished out of the team before he did his ACL.
"The expectation is that multi-year offers will come, from not just West Coast, but also big Victorian clubs and his future is very much up in the air because of that."
Georgiades has booted 65 goals for the Power since making his debut in 2020, with 55 of his career goals coming from the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
The youngster's potential could see clubs offer high-price deals to pry him away from South Australia, with the Eagles seen to be a likely suitor given Georgiades' WA connection and West Coast's need to add more youth to their rebuild.
Hawthorn are another side that could come calling, with the club having already flagged their tall forward assets as an area to improve this coming off-season.
The Hawks are set for an "aggressive" trade and free agency period in 2023, with Georgiades among the players likely on their radar this year.
