Out-of-contract Port Adelaide defender Miles Bergman has reportedly made a call on his footballing future amid plentiful rival interest from his home state of Victoria.

The 21-year-old Bergman is set to recommit to Port Adelaide, according to the Adelaide Advertiser's Matt Turner on Wednesday.

Bergman, a Sandringham Dragons product, was reportedly seriously on the radar of numerous Victorian rivals.

However, Wednesday's developments, while not officially communicated by the Power, would suggest Port has secured a major recruiting victory in seemingly cementing the future of one of its key long-term players.

Bergman has showcased his prowess this season in what has been a breakout campaign.

Whether it be distributing the football efficiently, shutting down the opposition's dangerous mid-sized forward, or applying general defensive pressure, the half-back-flanker has built himself into one of coach Ken Hinkley's most reliable contributors.

Port Adelaide is fixtured to play Essendon this weekend at the MCG, as it looks to snatch its 12th-straight victory.
