Port Adelaide has announced the re-signing of Lachie Jones and Jeremy Finlayson ahead of its 2024 finals campaign.

Both players were due to come out of contract by season's end, with Jones extending for another two years and Finlayson just the one.

After being taken with Pick 16 in the 2020 National Draft, Jones has quickly made a strong impression in the back half, playing 53 games, including 18 this year.

The 22-year-old's ability to hunt the ball whilst using his speed and power makes a liking for Ken Hinkley.

Jones is excited to continue his time in the teal and black as the club embarks on another finals series.

โ€œI'm really happy to be at Port Adelaide for another two years,โ€ Jones said.ย

โ€œI love the environment at the club, and I'm excited about being part of the future of this playing group.ย

โ€œIt's an honour to be able to continue my career here, and am looking forward to what the next couple of years brings.โ€

Finlayson's one-year extension is a show of faith following a tumultuous season.

The former Giant was suspended for three games after his homophobic slur and his year was ultimately cut short after suffering a spleen laceration in Round 18.ย

Finlayson joined the Power ahead of the 2022 season and has played 52 games for the club, kicking 70 goals in that time.

โ€œI'm really happy to be at Port Adelaide for another season,โ€ Finlayson said.ย

โ€œSome of my best friends are here at this club, and for me, having a welcoming and comfortable work environment to go to every day is so important.ย

โ€œThe support that me and my family have received from the club over the last three years has been amazing, and I'm really excited to be sticking around.โ€ย

List Manager Jason Cripps looks forward to seeing the ongoing contribution from the pair.ย

โ€œLachie has continued to grow and develop in a professional AFL environment and has been a real asset this season.ย

โ€œWe are excited about what he brings to the club and the potential he has as a young player. ย

โ€œJeremy is an important part of our forward group, and he provides flexibility with his ability to second ruck.ย ย

โ€œHis size and athleticism make him a difficult match-up, and we look forward to having a fit and healthy Jeremy for 2025.ย

ย โ€œLocking both players in for at least another year also gives us some further continuity in our playing group.โ€ย
