The winds of change are reportedly set to whip over Alberton, with gun youngster Connor Rozee said to be in line to become the highest-paid Power player in league history.
The 23-year-old has also been slated for an in-house promotion, too.
Since joining the Power with the fifth pick of the 2018 AFL Draft, Rozee has fledged to become one of the most damaging mid-forward hybrids in the league, averaging 19.16 disposals and just shy of a goal per game across the course of his 106 senior appearances.
While Rozee remains contracted until the cessation of the 2024 season, Port Adelaide's only AFL premiership-winning captain, Warren Tredrea, has stated that the Power are set to significantly loosen the purse strings to keep the North Adelaide product on the books.
"Connor Rozee is on the verge of signing the richest deal in Port Adelaide's history," Tredrea told The FIVEaa Sports Show on Monday.
But while pens are reportedly poised at Alberton, specific details of Rozee's purported extension have not been made public.
Though still learning to master his craft in the centre of the ground, Port see Rozee as the face of the club heading forward, with Tredrea even claiming the dual All-Australian is the clubhouse leader for the Power's vacant captaincy position.
"I'm also hearing that captaincy wise, he's leading the running," the former forward added.
Should Rozee win the approval of his leaders and peers, he would become the seventh name to lead Port Adelaide during the AFL era, with the role opening in the wake of Tom Jonas' retirement at the completion of the 2023 season.
Irrespective of age, if Rozee is to earn the figurative armband going forward, he will have plenty of help at hand, with former skippers Travis Boak and Ollie Wines still on Ken Hinkley's roster.
