Port Adelaide's dashing halfback Kane Farrell is reportedly in the sights of a host of Victorian clubs as he weighs up his future beyond 2025.
Farrell is earmarked for a more prominent role in the Power defence following the departure of Dan Houston to Collingwood in last year's trade period.
The 25-year-old has cemented his spot in the senior side over the past two seasons, playing 22 games in each, totalling 93 across seven years.
According to a Fox Sports report, Farrell - who will enter free agency at the end of the campaign - is set to be pursued by a host of clubs from his home state.
It is unclear whether the rebounding defender is under a restricted or unrestricted free agency status, which could potentially play a key role if he were to explore his options elsewhere.
However, in a positive sign for Port Adelaide fans, the left-footer has declared he is "happy here" in Alberton, and is solely focused on contributing to the club's success.
"I'm pretty happy here. Set up, got a couple of dogs and a partner, so pretty happy," Farrell said last week.
"And just really at the moment, I've only just got back into training and playing games, so looking to get a good, strong start this season, and then let my management group sort out what's going to happen.
"Obviously, the chats with Ken and Carry (Josh Carr) about what my role will look like and what they want from me, it's definitely encouraging of what I want (to be) as a footballer, and that's to be more of a leader down back and provide a lot of offence and be stronger down there for our group.
"So no, it's definitely been something we've chatted about anyway."
Essendon and Melbourne are two clubs that would love to bolster their half-backline, while St Kilda will have the capacity to facilitate moves for rival clubs' players.
Farrell is eyeing greater leadership responsibilities in 2025, and will need to step up in the absence of teammates Zak Butters, Brandon Zerk-Thatcher, Esava Ratugolea and Todd Marshall.
"Obviously losing Dan (Houston), he was a bit of a sidekick for me, like me and him worked together pretty well, but now it's just gives me a bit more time up higher and I can play sort of his role now," Farrell said.
"So I'm really looking forward to the challenge that will set me.
"(Leadership is) something I focused on this pre-season. Wasn't out there on the track for all the pre-season, but I made sure when I was out there I was trying to lead.
"And so for me, it's just being more vocal out there so then it feels like I'm involved in the game without the ball in hand."
Farrell and the Power will face their former teammate Houston in Round 1 at the MCG.
