Port Adelaide superstar Zak Butters has spoken on his future and the 'draw factor' of Victoria, with the Power midfielder already fetching external interest despite being under contract until the end of next year.

Butters has emerged as a 'pre agent' target for clubs from his home state, with the 24-year-old due to hit the open market at the cessation of the 2026 season should he remain unsigned.

Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn and Richmond have already been tied to the gritty ball-winner, who has admitted he has a "big decision" to make.

Butters has revealed he is in no rush to make that call however, with his priorities placed on turning Port Adelaide's season around.

"I'm still contracted here for another two years. I love Port Adelaide," he said on Friday. "I feel like I've made it aware I love SA and I feel like I'm really settled here.

"It is a big decision and I'm going to take my time on it. I probably only get to sign one more (long) contract moving forward. I'm still here for another two years. I'm in no rush.

"A lot goes into (the decision). Right now it's about winning games of footy and getting our season back on track. Right now it's not about me, it's about the team. I haven't put too many eggs into that basket.

"It is a big decision, no doubt. I'll talk to family, friends, teammates and plenty of people before I make that decision."

A regional Victoria product, Butters spoke on the lure of returning east and reuniting with family, however added that the support he's received from the Power since being drafted in 2018 has been significant.

"I love Darley, I love my family. But I also love my family in Adelaide," he added.

"The footy club has been great for me since drafting me as an 18-year-old. There's always a draw factor of Melbourne, my family... I lived there for 18 years, but I've also been here for seven, and I've had seven good years."

Butters joins the likes of Sam Walsh and Ben King as headline free agents set to come off-contract next year.

The Power onballer has played 120 games for the club since being taken 12th overall seven years ago, claiming two best and fairests, two All-Australian selections and the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year in that time.
