Port Adelaide youngster Xavier Walsh has extended his time at the club, penning a two-year extension which will take him until the end of 2026.

Walsh arrived at the Power as Pick 13 in the 2023 Rookie Draft and has quickly cemented a position down back in the SANFL side.

Following the likes of Jackson Mead re-signing earlier in the week, the utility is a highly-touted footballer who can be used at both ends of the ground.

The left-footer said he is grateful for the chance to remain at Alberton for another two years.

โ€œI've really enjoyed my time at Port Adelaide so far,โ€ Walsh said.

โ€œI'm learning all the time and feel like I'm getting better as a footballer. The coaches have been so good to learn from and the playing group have helped make the transition smooth for me.ย

โ€œI am really excited to keep developing and growing and will hopefully get my chance at AFL level in the future.โ€ย

List Manager Jason Cripps stated he looks forward to seeing Walsh continue to develop in an AFL environment.ย ย

โ€œSince arriving at Port Adelaide, Xavier has shown a commitment to learning and a desire to improve,โ€ Cripps said.ย

โ€œHis contest work and athleticism have been impressive in the SANFL this year and he works hard at training to grow as an athlete.ย

โ€œWe can see how much this opportunity means to him and we look forward to seeing what's to come for him.โ€ย

Walsh has averaged 10.3 disposals, 4.0 marks, 1.7 tackles and 3.8 rebound 50s in his 10 SANFL outings in 2024.
