Richmond premiership midfielder Dion Prestia has signed an extension to remain at Punt Road, inking a new one-year deal.
Prestia joined the Tigers ahead of the 2017 season, where he played a crucial part in ending the 37-year premiership drought.
Since then, the 31-year-old has played 130 games in the yellow and black, adding a Jack Dyer medal (2019) and podium finish (2022) in the club's best and fairest.
Amid a sea of change at Punt Road that has already witnessed Dustin Martin, Dylan Grimes, and Marlion Pickett depart through retirement, a stable and calming head in Prestia is exactly what the club will need.
Richmond GM of Football Blair Hartley is still in awe at the level Prestia can perform at despite his persistent injury issues.
“Dion played some terrific football this year and is a valuable and experienced leader around our young and emerging midfielders,” Hartley said.
“His leadership and knowledge of the game make him a valuable asset both to our team on gameday and to our entire list on the training track.”
“To enter a 15th season at AFL level is a credit to Dion's professionalism and the hard work he has put in behind the scenes,” Hartley said.
“We are looking forward to seeing what he can continue to achieve next year.”
Prestia played 13 games in 2024 and will be eyeing a huge pre-season ahead of next year.
