Triple-premiership player and Richmond assistant coach Kane Lambert has informed the club of his desire to leave Punt Road.
Lambert is aiming to pursue a career away from football in 2025. The 32-year-old retired from playing in 2022 before immediately returning to Tigerland as a development coach in 2023. Just last month, Lambert was promoted to a line-coaching position for the final few weeks of the season.
Richmond football performance General Manager Tim Livingstone said Lambert had been giving consideration to a career outside of the AFL industry for a while.
"Kane has been considering this move for some time, and we are fully supportive of his desire to grow both personally and professionally away from the game,โ Livingstone said.
"Kane made an enormous contribution on the field, however perhaps the greatest legacy he leaves are the behaviours and values he has modelled that have helped shape this football club's culture.โ
Lambert was drafted as a mature-aged recruit, taken at Pick 46 in the 2014 Rookie Draft. Forging a 135-game career, Lambert was a significant piece to Richmond's dynasty, including a prolific 2017 finals series. He snagged a crucial third-quarter goal in the 2017 grand final and was a much-loved role player by die-hard Tiger fans.
Achieving his best season in 2018, Lambert finished second in Richmond's best and fairest award and cracked the All-Australian squad.
Following his retirement, Richmond welcomed Lambert back into the football department, initially plying his trade as a development coach.
Lambert continues the exodus trend of both staff and players at Punt Road, with CEO Brendon Gale officially departing after the home and away season concluded.
Tiger veterans Dustin Martin, Dylan Grimes, and Marlion Pickett announced their retirements this season, whilst younger members Shai Bolton, Daniel Rioli, Jack Graham and Liam Baker could all be at opposition clubs in 2025.
