Richmond forward Daniel Rioli is closing in on a contract extension with the Tigers, with his current deal coming to an end at the conclusion of the 2019 season.

Rioli, who was a key member of Richmond's 2017 premiership success, only played 12 games in 2018 after suffering a serious ankle injury in their grand final triumph.

He had career-best number last campaign, which has prompted the Tigers to negotiate a new deal with Rioli, with AFL.com.au believing he'll sign for three years when the move becomes official.

Rioli is one of a number of Richmond's premiership stars who come out of contract at season's end, with the Tigers still boasting all 22 players who playing in the grand final on their 2019 list.

David Astbury, Brandon Ellis and Shane Edwards are all free agents at the end of the season, while Nick Vlastuin, Kamdyn McIntosh, Jacob Townsend, Nathan Broad, Jason Castagna, Dan Butler, Shaun Grigg and Bachar Houli are without deals for 2020.
