Richmond premiership player Daniel Rioli will look to make his return to playing action in the VFL against Sandringham this weekend.
Rioli has not participated in game action since he broke his foot in last year's AFL Grand Final, but he will have to prove his fitness in training this week to get the final clearance.
The rehabilitation of the 21-year-old has been overlooked closely by the Tigers, giving him ample time to recover before bringing him back in order to avoid having him return prematurely.
Rioli's injury required two operations and 262 days on the sidelines, so he will be looking forward to potentially ditching the moon boot for a football boot this weekend.
Also potentially available to play for Richmond this weekend is Shaun Grigg after he missed the Tigers' last two games with a hamstring injury.
The Tigers will take a slower approach with both Dion Prestia, who will miss his second straight game with a sustained calf strain and Jason Castagna who had suspected knee damage after a knock during last weekend's clash against North Melbourne with the latest football predictions.
Scans have cleared Castagna of serious knee damage, however his availability will be decided by the his performance and fitness during training this week.
