Brisbane has suffered a blow with news captain Dayne Beams will miss at least the next fortnight due to a quad injury.

Beams sustained the injury during the Lions' 83-point loss to Port Adelaide on the weekend, before being sent for scans during the week.

He will miss matches against Sydney and Hawthorn, both of which appear to be very winnable games given the current form of both sides.

"Dayne has been outstanding in the opening six rounds and this setback is frustrating for him," Brisbane football boss David Noble said.

โ€œDayne is a resilient person who has worked hard over the past year to get back to playing consistent footy and weโ€™re confident heโ€™ll handle his rehab with the same professionalism and dedication.

"As captain, he's worked extremely well with the leadership group to set standards and lead by example, and he will continue to drive that as he recovers from injury."

Vice-captain Tom Rockliff, who captained the club in 2015 and 16', will skipper the side on Sunday.

Beams has been brilliant form to start the season, averaging 28.8 disposals and 3.8 tackles per game.
