2022 saw the AFL uncover a host of stars, while some well-known names strengthened their place and pedigree thanks to stellar campaigns.

So, we've attempted to compile a list ranking the 10 players that improved the most this season.

This list takes a look at where these players were positioned at the conclusion of the 2021 season and how they rank 12 months on.

Note: Players are required to have featured in the AFL in 2021, meaning Geelong forward Tyson Stengle was not eligible for our list.

1. Will Brodie

A somewhat rags-to-riches story for Will Brodie across the past 12 months, with the inside midfielder leaving the Suns in favour of a move to Fremantle.

The former top 10 pick departed Gold Coast after five seasons in Queensland, where he recorded just three wins from 25 matches.

In 2022 alone, Brodie played in 24 matches for the Dockers, winning 16 games and featuring in two finals as one of Justin Longmuir's key men in the middle.

In the often absence of skipper Nat Fyfe in midfield, Brodie filled the void alongside Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw to be an integral part of the Dockers' rise into premiership contention.

Brodie ranked among the top 10 in the league for disposals, clearances, contested possessions and handbells in 2022 to earn his place at No.1 on our list.

  1. Nick Daicos should be in the top 10 when we are talking about “improvement”, taking into consideration he was in the NAB League in 2021
