In the fourth and final instalment of our 2023 AFL position rankings, we've named the top ten forwards of the year.

It was an interrupted season for many key forwards, with the likes of Tom Lynch, Mitch Lewis and Max King all dealing with injury setbacks to see their campaigns limited.

Nevertheless, their absences came as new premier forwards emerged to the fore, with a number of attackers enjoying career-best seasons in 2023.

Between the dominant tall forwards or the threatening smalls, a number of new faces are sure to appear in this year's rankings.

4. Nick Larkey

An unprecedented 71 goals for Larkey in 2023 saw the Roos tall rise into the top bracket of key forwards in the AFL.

The 25-year-old's tally came in a difficult year for North Melbourne, where Larkey struggled to find support in the front third and would often need to work against multiple defenders to have an impact.

Larkey made up 29.2 per cent of the Roos' goals this year, kicking multiple goals in 18 games and reaching a career-best nine majors against Gold Coast in Round 24.

But it would be Larkey's accuracy in front of the sticks that separated him from the rest of the pack, with his 71 per cent rateย the highest among the top 100 goalkickers in 2023, with the next best among the top 35 goalkickers alone only sitting at 61.4 per cent.
