The 2013 National Draft saw the Giants hold the opening selections of the count for the third-straight season, with Tom Boyd headlining the crop of prospects after joining the league's youngest side.
While Boyd only played the one season in the orange and charcoal, the Giants' draft class was bolstered by selections later on the board, with their Pick 2 selection in Josh Kelly looking to be as fruitful as any.
While they'll be happy to still have Kelly calling the Harbour City home, an extensive list of eventual AFL superstars were also on offer.
We take a look at that draft eight years on and re-select what we feel is the top 10 from 2013.ย
Original top 10 of the 2013 National Draft:
- Tom Boyd (GWS)
- Josh Kelly (GWS)
- Jack Billings (St Kilda)
- Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs)
- Kade Kolodjashnij (Gold Coast Suns)
- Matthew Scharenberg (Collingwood)
- James Aish (Brisbane Lions)
- Luke McDonald (North Melbourne)
- Christian Salem (Melbourne)
- Nathan Freeman (Collingwood)
6. Ben Brown (Originally: Pick 47, North Melbourne)
Brown jumped a massive 41 spots in our re-draft, from his original No. 47 selection in 2013.ย
The 28-year-old initially had trouble finding his way into the 2021 Demons side (managing just 13 games in total), but when he finally did so, he was an attractive option inside 50 alongside Tom McDonald and Luke Jackson.ย

Brown's 2021 goals-per-game average of 1.9 wasn't quite to the elite level of his three-year stretch from 2017-19 when he averaged at least 2.8 goals per game at Arden Street, but Brown's contested marking was critically important for the Demons in the 2021 finals series.
