The 2013 National Draft saw the Giants hold the opening selections of the count for the third-straight season, with Tom Boyd headlining the crop of prospects after joining the league's youngest side.

While Boyd only played the one season in the orange and charcoal, the Giants' draft class was bolstered by selections later on the board, with their Pick 2 selection in Josh Kelly looking to be as fruitful as any.

While they'll be happy to still have Kelly calling the Harbour City home, an extensive list of eventual AFL superstars were also on offer.

We take a look at that draft eight years on and re-select what we feel is the top 10 from 2013.ย

Original top 10 of the 2013 National Draft:

  1. Tom Boyd (GWS)
  2. Josh Kelly (GWS)
  3. Jack Billings (St Kilda)
  4. Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs)
  5. Kade Kolodjashnij (Gold Coast Suns)
  6. Matthew Scharenberg (Collingwood)
  7. James Aish (Brisbane Lions)
  8. Luke McDonald (North Melbourne)
  9. Christian Salem (Melbourne)
  10. Nathan Freeman (Collingwood)

5. Matt Crouch (Originally: Pick 23, Adelaide)

Crouch, alongside the likes of Tom Mitchell and Jack Macrae, is one of the AFL's leading accumulators. But, plagued by a groin injury in 2021, Crouch failed to play this year and managed a mere 16 games in 2020 (his lowest season total since his rookie season in 2014).ย

The 26-year-old Victorian ranked inside the top-five in the AFL in disposals per game in four of the past five seasons, as well as ranking first in the league in total disposals in 2017.ย

If Crouch can overcome his groin ailment by the start of 2022 pre-season action, the Crows' midfield brigade instantly becomes substantially better.
