Former Kangaroo and Tiger Bigoa Nyuon has signed with the Ballarat Swans in the Ballarat Football Netball League (BFNL) for the 2025 season.

Nyuon played four matches across five years on an AFL list, including three this year at North Melbourne. His performances at AFL level were solid, averaging 14.3 disposals and six marks per game, including a 19-disposal, seven-mark game against Geelong.

The 200cm defender has shown promise at the VFL level too, averaging 4.3 marks in defence this year for the Kangaroos' state-league side.

Following the 2024 AFL season, Nyuon was delisted in a large list cull containing four players, with the 23-year-old axed alongside Curtis Taylor, Tyler Sellers and Hamish Free.

Born in Kenya but of South Sudanese heritage, Nyuon spent his formative years living in the Ballarat community after his family moved to Australia, with the signing allowing him to move closer to his relatives.

Nyuon said the professionalism of the Swans drew him into signing with the club.

“I'm excited to have joined the Swans, from the first contact with the club I was impressed with their professionalism and the off and on field support and culture they have developed," he said in a club statement.

"I'm looking forward to playing good footy and being involved with the club with my family and partner”.

Ballarat finished fourth in the BFNL in 2024 with a record of 10-5-1, eventually eliminated in the semi-finals. The Swans have produced AFL talent such as Drew Petrie, Brad and Matt Crouch, and Mitch and Nathan Brown.
