Carlton powerbrokers have shown interest in luring Brad Scott to the club to potentially take over the coaching reigns from Brendan Bolton, reports foxfooty.com.au.
Scott coached his last game for North Melbourne in a win over the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Saturday and will hold a press conference on Sunday to officially confirm his departure from Arden Street.
Kangaroos assistant Rhyce Shaw is the favourite to take over as interim coach for the rest of the season.
One club CEO told foxfooty.com.au that Scott's exit will cause the coaching merry-go-round to go into overdrive after no movement over the last 18 months.
Scott's interests moving forward are unknown, but North insiders believe he would prefer to go to a powerhouse club like Carlton over St Kilda, who he has also been linked to due to due to his relationship with Simon Lethlean.
The Blues have publicly backed Bolton but there is a growing belief that his time in charge could be up. It is understood that he has not given up hope of keeping his job despite Carlton's horror 1-8 start to the season.
Scott is believed to be their preferred option from the available candidates should Bolton not survive the season.
