Brisbane Lions star Dayne Beams could reportedly be open to a return to Victoria once his current contract ends, according to Triple M Hot Breakfast reporter Tom Browne.

Beams recently stepped down as the Lions' captain given the recent loss of his father, and is still contracted to the Lions for the 2019 season.

Although, Browne believes because his wife is from Victoria, he could potentially be open to a return to Victoria.

"A lot of discussion and praise for Dayne Beams last week, who bravely admitted that he's facing some issues following the tragic passing of his father," Browne said.

"There is some whispers around Victorian clubs potentially that given his wife is from Victoria, it's a chance that Dayne in the future...might want to return to Victoria."

Beams played for Collingwood between 2009-2014 before moving to Brisbane, and was a member of the Pies' premiership side in 2010.

The 28-year-old has played 156 games over the course of his career, and has career averages of 25.2 disposals, 4.4 clearances and 3.8 tackles.
