Out-of-contract Geelong midfielder Darcy Lang is yet to receive a new offer from the Cats and with his time at the club appearing all but over, the 21-year-old is exploring his options.

Lang's name has been mentioned as part of a possible deal to bring Gary Ablett back to Geelong, but a Victorian club has also emerged as a suitor for the former first round draftee.

According to Fairfax, Lang toured North Melbourne's facilities on Tuesday as he weighs up his future.

Lang managed just 10 matches in 2017, however, impressed in Geelong's semi-final win over Sydney, with six tackles and 24 disposals. He also laid a further eight tackles in the preliminary final loss to Adelaide the following week.

But with Lang on the cusp of Geelong's best 22, it appears he is surplus to requirements and will be playing his footy elsewhere in 2018, with manager Scott Lucas telling SEN over the weekend, there are several interest parties.

“Gold Coast have had a brief conversation with us around him — I’m not privy to who they are targeting, whether that be picks or players (for Gary Ablett), they haven’t said to me who they are after — but they did inquire about Darcy’s interest in the Gold Coast,” Lucas said.

“Also, there’s been Victorian clubs that have had strong inquires on him, so we’re working through that at the minute. I think it’s his preference to stay in Victoria, but it’s a moving (situation).”

The Colac-raised product has played 44 games with the Cats, since being selected with pick No. 16 in the 2013 National Draft.

He enjoyed his best season in his second year at the club, playing 20 matches in 2014. However, he has struggled to maintain his spot in the senior side since, playing 23 matches over the past two seasons.
