West Coast are reportedly keeping tabs on Gold Coast small forward Brandon Matera, and are keen to make a play for his services at the end of the season.

Journalist Mark Stevens reported the news during the coverage of the Eagles' game against Geelong on Thursday night, and said the Western Australian could be on his way back home.

"There's some rumours aboutย Brandon Matera," Stevens said.

"Good little player, up on the Gold Coast. Big chance to end up at West Coast.

"I think they're keen next year."

Matera's contract is up with Gold Coast at the end of the season, and has been with the club since its inaugural year in 2011.

Despite missing the opening two games of the season, the 25-year-old returned with a bang in round three against Hawthorn, booting six goals and collecting 19 disposals.

2017 is already looking like Matera's best year in the AFL, with career-high averages in disposals (17.9) and goals (2.3).
