GWS co-captain Callan Ward is a "serious" chance to miss round one with a knee injury, according to theย Herald Sun'sย Sam Edmund.

The 28-year old suffered the injury his team's teams JLT clash with the Swans last week and is reportedly wearing a knee brace.

Edmund revealed that the exact details were yet to be confirmed but believes the setback was nothing serious.
โ€œCallan Ward, and weโ€™re still fleshing out the details of this is in serious doubt for Round 1,โ€ he said.

โ€œHeโ€™s got a nasty knee injury.

โ€œHe was injured, we understood, in that JLT Series game against the Swans, but it slipped under the radar.

โ€œHeโ€™s in Melbourne at the moment with a big knee brace, whether heโ€™s seeing a specialist or been granted a bit of free time, we donโ€™t know.

โ€œIโ€™ve been told by the Giants, itโ€™s definitely not a ruptured ACL.โ€
