Melbourne defender Sam Frost is reportedly being courted by the Hawks, with the 26-year-old still without a contract for 2020.

Frost had a career-best year playing at fullback for the Demons, featuring in all 22 games en route to 13.5 disposals, 4.3 marks and 3.2 rebound 50s per game.

In a poor year for Melbourne, Frost was one of their shining lights down back, and he's caught the eyes of Hawthorn, according to Sam McClure.

โ€œSam Frost, the Melbourne defender who is out of contract, thereโ€™s some interest there from the Hawthorn Football Club,โ€ McClure told SENโ€™sย Bob and Andy.

โ€œThere has been contact between the Hawks and the Frost camp.

โ€œI think heโ€™ll be chasing a longer term deal than what the Dees are offering him.

"He hasn't been formally offered an extension with the Demons ... the Demons have indicated to him that he is a required player and there will be a contract coming his way."

Frost has played 91 games for the Demons since making his debut in 2012 with GWS.
