St Kilda will be forced into making a tough decision over the next week, as they decide what to do with former number one draft selection Paddy McCartin.
McCartin has managed just 35 games since making his St Kilda debut in 2015, with several concussions interrupting his AFL career to date.
The Saint hasn't yet played a game in 2019, and has suffered eight concussions since 2014.
With the mid-season draft set for Monday night, St Kilda is currently without a selection, but could free up a list spot with McCartin moving to the long-term injury list, or at worst, retiring from the game.
The Herald Sun believes this could be a possibility, with Jon Ralph writing "St Kilda [are] considering Patrick McCartin’s position" on Wednesday.
As it stands, the Saints have McCartin on their list and therefore don't have a mid-season pick, with Fremantle, West Coast, Brisbane and Geelong in the same boat.
Fremantle ruckman Aaron Sandilands reportedly offered to retire for the Dockers in order to give them a pick in the draft, but Ross Lyon denied his request, suggesting he would be more beneficial to their playing list this season.
