Port Adelaide are in the hunt for West Coast ruckman and restricted free agent Scott Lycett during this offseason, according to SEN Adelaide correspondent Tom Rehn.
The Power already have an All Australian ruckman in Paddy Ryder but the former Bomber has been plagued by injury this season, leaving the South Australian side with limited ruck options.
“They’re using Charlie Dixon in the ruck but then they’ve got nothing up forward to kick to so that’s a real source of frustration,” Rehn said on SEN’s The Sporting Capital.
“They’ve got to chase a recognised ruckman in a big way.
“I think they’ll go very hard, and it’s a good time to be coming out of contract if you’re Scott Lycett.
“SA boy, grew up as a Port Adelaide boy, I think they’ll go in a big way for Scott Lycett in the offseason.
“Port have got a very very good ruckman in Ryder, and if he plays every game, fine, but it’s probably not feasible.
“His body has got a history of wearing down, so I think if they want to get two or three years out of Ryder, realistically you probably only aim for 15 to 18 games per season otherwise you might just cook him.”
Lycett has played 17 games for the Eagles in 2018, which is his second-highest tally of games in a single season since joining the club in 2011.
