Port Adelaide midfielder Brendon Ah Chee is reportedly set to request a trade back home to Western Australia at the end of the season.

Ah Chee has struggled to cement his place in the senior side this year, managing just four games.

The 23-year-old was stuck in the reserves until round eight, before playing the next four matches until he was dropped after the Power's 70-point Round 12 loss to Essendon.

The West Australian reports Ah Chee is preparing to seek a trade at the end of the year after being been told he is likely to spend the rest of the season in the SANFL.

Ah Chee, recruited with pick No. 45 in the 2011 National Draft, has played a total of 26 games for the Power since making his debut in round three, 2015.

He is out of contract this season and is said to have already attracted interest from West Coast.

The Gold Coast Suns could also be a possible suitor, after they showed some interest in him last year. Ah Chee's younger brother, Callum, has played 21 games with the Suns after joining the club via the No.8 pick in the 2015 National Draft.

However, despite the reports, Port coach Ken Hinkley is hopeful Ah Chee will remain at Alberton.

"'Arch' knows we exactly where he's at and what he needs to do to be a part of the AFL side," Hinkley said on Friday.

"Look, he has got a great future. And hopefully for us that is still with our football club."
