Four Richmond players set to conduct a footy clinic were reportedly turned away from a primary school in Melbourne's south-east on Tuesday.

Melbourne radio station, 3AW, reports the four players (Dustin Martin, Anthony Miles, Shae Bolton, Jack Graham) were refused entry to the school for the clinic because none of them had a Working With Children Check.

"Players were turned away because they didn't have their Working with Children Check," Richmond spokeswoman, Nicki Malady, confirmed to the station.

"It's up to the school's discretion, but they don't actually need to have one until August 1.

"That's what they decided to do, it's a bit of a shame for the kids."

The players were attending Syndal South Primary School in Mount Waverley.
