Out-of-favour Sydney forward Kurt Tippett has reportedly been the subject of heavy interest from a number of Victorian clubs.
The 30-year-old has only managed five games for the Swans in 2017, but despite having a year to run on his contract, it hasn't stopped clubs in Melbourne from circling the key position player, with one club in particular reportedly engaging in talks with a deal "already down the line."
“A little birdy has told me Kurt Tippett may be of interest elsewhere and clubs are in that mode now,” SEN Breakfast co-host Andy Maher told the show on Tuesday morning.
“Tippett’s name was mentioned as a possibility to come to a Melbourne based club and the deal is already down the line. In terms of if it happens, Sydney is prepared to cover a fair bit of the contractual obligations for Kurt Tippett.
“It is a big financial impost and no club will want to take a 30-year-old Tippett on.”
Tippett suffered an ankle injury against the Western Bulldogs in round two and missed two weeks, before returning in round five against the Giants.
He then hurt his hip and missed the next four matches at senior level, with his last game for the Swans coming in round 10 against Hawthorn.
Former St Kilda and North Melbourne midfielder Nick Dal Santo said at least two Victorian clubs should bid for the Swan, as Collingwood and Richmond continue their search for a second key tall.
“I don’t think his form warrants him being in Sydney’s team right now,” Dal Santo added.
“I think he still has a purpose and place in the game. I think he could have a place in a Collingwood or Richmond. Both are crying out for a key forward, not in a Jack Riewoldt or Darcy Moore mould, but a big body that when you’re in trouble, and you need a bail out kick down the line, you can kick it to Tippett.”
