SEN's Sam McClure believes Carlton have not ruled out trying to recruit axed Bomber Brendon Goddard.
The 33-year old was told by Essendon on Tuesday that he would not be offered a new contract next season, but the ex-Saint has indicated his desire to play on at a third club.
And McClure believes that the Blues interest in Goddard may hinge on their ability to land other targets during the off-season.
“One club I don’t think that has firmly shut the door on having Brendon Goddard on its list for next year is Carlton,” McClure told SEN’s Time On.
“A lot would have to happen for those two parties to unite, but stranger things have happened.
“If Carlton don’t get the players that they’re hoping to get in the trade period and the draft, maybe, just maybe, a spot would open up for Brendon Goddard on Carlton’s list.”
Goddard has played 333 games after making his AFL debut in 2003.
