Former Adelaide captain Rory Sloane has ventured into the AFL media landscape following the cessation of his playing career, linking up with Nine as the newest addition to the broadcaster's programming plans.

Sloane announced his retirement from the top level in April amid rehabilitation from a second round of surgery on his eye.

The 34-year-old's decision saw an end to his stellar 255-game career with the Crows, which included All-Australian honours and two best and fairests at West Lakes.

Sloane - who was drafted out of Melbourne's east, debuted for the Crows in 2009 and would go on to become one of the club's best of his generation while captaining the club in four seasons.

His first post-playing career move has seen him link up withย Nineย as a panellist for an array of programs, includingย The Sunday Footy Show, Footy Classified, 3AW and Nine News.

"It's a great opportunity and I'm incredibly excited to join the team," Sloane told The Age.

"Growing up as a kid my whole Sunday was centred around theย Wide World of Sports, so to now be joining them is quite an honour and the realisation of a dream.

โ€œI'm really keen to bring my personality, thoughts and views on all things footy."

Sloane is expected to feature onย Footy Classified'sย Monday night program, while his commitments withย Nine Newsย will see him offer analysis and opinion for their Adelaide viewership.

His move toย Footy Classifiedย comes after the departure of program stalwarts Craig Hutchison, Caroline Wilson and Kane Cornes to theย Seven network.

The long-runningย Nineย program has also welcomed the addition of Essendon great and ex-coach James Hird from the coming season.
