Former Adelaide key position talent Fischer McAsey is set to return to the football field for the first time since calling time on his career with the Crows.

McAsey announced his shock retirement in January last year at the age of 21 following a period of personal leave away from West Lakes.

The former Pick 6 selection stated after his departure that he battled with adversity and "a lot of hardship" during his time in the AFL system.

McAsey played ten games for Adelaide across his three years with the club, with all ten matches coming in his rookie season of 2020.

McAsey was rated as one of the best key position players in his draft class of 2019, and emerged as a versatile defender-forward hybrid during his time with the Crows.

Since returning to his home state of Victoria, McAsey has remained away from football, teaching breathwork in Melbourne's south-east.

His absence from the field is set to reach an end this weekend, with McAsey set to play for Southern Football Netball League outfit St Kilda City on Saturday, per News Corp.

The Saints will host Skye at Peanut Farm Reserve for their fourth final game of the season, with McAsey expected to play in all four matches.

St Kilda City sit second last on the SFNL Division 2 ladder after 14 matches, having won three and lost 11 games.
