Retiring from the AFL in 2020, after stints with the Richmond Tigers and Western Bulldogs, forward Sam Lloyd is set to join another club.
Debuting with Richmond in 2014 after being drafted as a mature age recruit, Lloyd kicked 114 goals throughout his career and managed a total of 89 AFL appearances - 57 for Richmond and 32 for the Bulldogs.
While he is currently playing with Deniliquin Rams in the Murray League, K Rock 95.5 understands that Lloyd will make two cameo appearances for the Anakie Roos this season.
No stranger to the region, the forward attended Geelong Grammar for the majority of his high schooling and spent a year on the Geelong Falcons squad list.
Lloyd isn't the first AFL player to make cameos at the club, with former Western Bulldogs and Geelong Cats player Luke Dahlhaus and ex-AFL listed dup Andrew Boseley and Jay Lever previously representing the club.
“Playing AFL has been an amazing experience, and I'm proud of what I've achieved on the field. My journey wasn't conventional, but I'm just honoured to have played at the highest level," he said in 2020 after deciding to hang up the boots.
“I'm extremely grateful to have represented two great clubs, who have given me the chance to live out a boyhood dream.
“I'm thankful to everyone who's helped me along the road on my football journey. I've loved my team-mates and coaches at both clubs, and I can't thank them enough for the memories and lessons they've taught me.”
