Retired Melbourne and Western Bulldogs midfielder Lachie Hunter has linked up with Western Football Netball League outfit Spotswood for 2025.
Hunter, a member of the Dogs' 2016 premiership side, called time on his 199-game career in September after a pair of seasons with the Demons.
The 30-year-old spent the first decade of his time in the top flight with the Western Bulldogs as a father-son selection, with his dad Mark a 130-game player for Footscray.
Hunter took out the Dogs' best and fairest in 2018 following a career-best season for the club.
A ball-winning wingman, Hunter would go on to play 173 games in the red, white and blue before seeking a switch to Melbourne at the end of the 2022 season.
After a 24-game campaign in his first year under Simon Goodwin, injuries limited Hunter to just two games in 2024 before he decided to retire.
The veteran midfielder is now set to return to Melbourne's west for next year's WFNL season, linking up with Spotswood's seniors.
"The Spotswood Football Netball Club is pleased to announce the signing of Lachie Hunter to its senior playing group for season 2025," a club post read.
"The 2016 Premiership player played 199 AFL games with the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne and won the Charles Sutton Medal in 2018 at the Bulldogs.
"Lachie kicked 80 goals during his AFL career averaging 23 disposals a game during his 12 years at the top level.
"We are so pleased to announce Lachie as a Woodsman, and look forward to seeing him on the field for round 1 against Newport."
Spotwood managed six wins from 16 matches to finish fifth in the WFNL's Division 1 competition, falling short of a finals berth.
A season opener for Spotswood next year has been locked in against Newport on Saturday, April 5 at A.W. Langshaws Reserve.
