Richmond ruckman Toby Nankervis will lead the club for the fourth year running after being named captain.

Nankervis took over from three-time premiership skipper Trent Cotchin in the 2022 season, joining defender Dylan Grimes in the role of co-captain.

The 30-year-old took on the reins as Richmond's sole leader for the first time in 2024, showcasing his leadership, standards and messaging to the rebuilding group.

Amid a new era for the Punt Road club that welcomed a staggering eight draftees including prized selections Sam Lalor and Josh Smillie, Nankervis will have the difficult job of galvanising the largely fresh group.

Gun midfielder Tim Taranto - who has been earmarked for a leadership role since crossing from the Giants ahead of the 2023 season - joins Nankervis.

Taranto has played 38 games for the Tigers, including the 2023 best and fairest, and has taken leadership into his strides, undertaking the youngsters in his wing.

Premiership defender Nathan Broad was also recognised as a figurehead at the Victorian powerhouse, elevated into the leadership group for the first time.

Standing as one of the more senior players at Richmond, Broad will help guide the youth at the Tigers into greener pastures.

Jayden Short and Tom Lynch will reprise their 2024 roles, remaining alongside Nankervis as part of the leadership group for the upcoming season.

Fellow veterans Dion Prestia and Nick Vlastuin have been given mentoring roles.
