Richmond have appointed Rhy Gieschen as their new national recruiting manager ahead of the 2025 AFL season.
Gieschen steps into the role following the unfortunate passing of list guru Chris Toce, whose fight with cancer ended in October.
Amid a difficult period for the Tigers in the wake of Toce's passing, Gieschen led the club's recruitment at the National Draft, where they recruited eight new players - including No.1 pick Sam Lalor from the GWV Rebels.
Gieschen has been with Richmond since 2023, having first joined the club as a Victorian recruiter and was previously the talent manager with the Northern Knights.
“Rhy did an outstanding job in assisting and guiding the recruiting process in the preparation for last year's national draft,” Tigers football boss Blair Hartley said in a club statement.
“He has had a strong grounding in the AFL industry, having played a variety of roles in both talent and operations.
“All of this, combined with the experience he has gained in the past two years with us in our recruiting department has given him a solid base as he continues to grow and develop further.”
Richmond drafted Josh Smillie, Taj Hotton, Jonty Faull, Luke Trainor, Harry Armstrong, Thomas Sims and Jasper Alger after selecting Lalor first overall, with the Punt Road club also coming away from the draft period with North Melbourne's 2025 first-round selection.
The Tigers' 2025 season gets underway in Round 1 when they host Carlton at the MCG on Thursday, March 13.
