Richmond have revealed first-year forward Harry Armstrong will miss close to three months of action after suffering a high-grade hamstring strain.
The injury occurred during Thursday's training session, with Armstrong subsequently ruled out of the Tigers' Gather Round meeting with Fremantle in Barossa for this weekend.
Richmond confirmed the extent of Armstrong's injury on Friday, with football boss Tim Livingstone expressing his support for the teenager, who will be sidelined for the long term.
“Harry has been terrific since arriving at the Club in the off-season and has made a bright start to his AFL career," Livingstone said.
“Unfortunately, he is now going to miss some football. We will be cautious with Harry across the coming months and make sure that when he returns later in the year that he is ready to go.”
Armstrong made his AFL debut in Richmond's season-opening win over Carlton and had featured in every game since, booting four goals in as many matches as a target option in Adem Yze's attack.
The Pick 23 selection is one of three omissions at the Tigers for this week's match, with fellow draftee Sam Lalor also ruled out due to a hip injury. Richmond confirmed defender Kaleb Smith had been dropped for the contest prior to the weekend.
First-round pick Jonty Faull has come into the side for his AFL debut, with Maurice Rioli and Hugo Ralphsmith also in for their first games of the 2025 season.
The Tigers and Dockers will clash at Barossa Park in Lyndoch at 12:05pm local time.
