Richmond has confirmed today that forward Rhyan Mansell has suffered a moderate-grade syndesmosis injury.
The 23-year-old suffered the injury within three minutes of Richmond's first pre-season game on Sunday against the Demons.
Mansell looked solid in the clubs' intra-club match in late January with plenty of responsibility placed on him as a forward option following Jack Riewoldt's retirement.
The Tasmanian Tiger played a career-high 17 games in 2023, averaging 7.8 disposals and 0.59 goals per game.
Due to the injury, Mansell will not be available for the Tigers Opening Round clash against the Gold Coast Suns. The clash between the two teams will draw plenty of attention due to former Tiger's coach Damien Hardwick's appointment at the Suns.
Richmond will be continuing their pre-season without Mansell as they look to their next practice match against Collingwood before heading to Queensland to commence their 2024 campaign.
